Nothing is quite as instructional for photographers as looking at good pictures. Adams took on an enormously difficult subject - the grand landscape, and succeeded magnificently. Spending some quiet hours with books like this is a thoroughly enriching - and educational -experience.

Books of Photographs by Ansel Adams Ansel Adams. Ansel Adams work is very accessible. Very large numbers of people enjoy his work while knowing nothing about photography. For this reason, Adams’ ability to “see”, his true value as an artist is sometimes mistakenly discounted. Sometimes by photographers who could learn much from his work! Adams worked at infinity focus, and managed to make photographs of subjects often encompassing thousands of square miles in one negative. Through his choice of time of day (light quality), contrast choice for the final print, use of filters, and where he stood – he was able to take immense subjects like the Teton Mountains and Yosemite Valley and make them uniquely his. The pictures are awesome and impressive - truly beautiful. However, like Rembrandt, who with a few quick flicks of a brush could paint an entire hand, never is Adams’ work stylized. Neither does it ever become superficial. This is very difficult to do! Try going to Yellowstone National Park and making something other than postcard pictures. These books present the photographs with quite superb reproduction quality. They are an asset to any serious Fine Art Photographer’s collection. These always make nice gifts too. #AACI Ansel Adams: Classic Images; hardcover…..Out of Stock #AAAW Ansel Adams: The American Wilderness, hardcover……Out of Stock #AAPSW Photographs of the Southwest, hardcover….…$Out of Stock #AAYHS Yosemite and The High Sierra, hardcover……..Out of Stock #AAP The Portfolios of Ansel Adams, hardcover…Out of Stock #AASW The Grand Canyon and The Southwest, soft cover …..$21.95 #AAY Yosemite, soft cover …..$21.95 |
