T- Grain Fixer |
|
T-Grain Fixer is neutral pH. The powder mixes to make 1 gallon. It will clear the sensitizing dye (and the unexposed silver halide) on T-Grain films such as T-Max and Delta in 4 minutes. |
This product is specially suited to T-Grain (or "fabricated grain") films such as Kodak T-Max, Ilford Delta, or Agfa Acros. In 4-6 minutes, depending on freshness, this fixer will fix the film, and completely clear the sensitizing dye. Comparing this product to an alkaline rapid fix proved interesting. The rapid fix cleared the unexposed silver in 30 seconds, but after 9 minutes the magenta cast of the Kodak T-Max film was still there. The T-Grain Fixer cleared the unexposed silver in 2 minutes, and completely cleared the magenta sensitizing dye in 4 minutes. Therefore, twice the fixing time to clear the film is equal to the total time it takes to clear the dye tint. This T-Grain fixer is Sodium Thiosulfate based. It is not a rapid fixer but does contain an ammonium ingredient you'll get a whiff of when you mix the powder into solution. Once it's in solution, it's almost odorless. This product contains unique ingredients that allow for it's unusually good performance with T-Grain films. This fixer is also neutral pH. It won't remove pyro stain or low density image silver as an acid fixer will. If you use a fabricated grain film, this is the fixer to use. T-Grain Fixer will not wash out of prints as fast as ArtFix, nor is it as gentle. It is, however, superior for this application. #75-0100 (powder to make .9 liter [1 gallon])...........$7.86 #75-0110 (3 packages, powder to make .9 liter [1 gallon])..$21.20 |
