This product is the result of much trial and error. The first version of this focusing cloth was too light – despite the weights at the corners, and it let too much light through. The second version, using 3 layers of cloth, was opaque enough, but bulky and heavy. A light-tight cloth was of primary importance, then lack of bulk.

We eventually found some very special material, and the final version of the Fine Art Photo Focusing Cloth is ideal. It is substantial— but not bulky. The corners don’t need to be weighted (I never liked the idea of corner weights anyway – in a strong wind they can smack into the ground glass and crack it. I've had it happen!). The black side won’t slide off your head or shoulders, and the white side is bright to reflect the sun. Most important—these focusing cloths are completely opaque. Take it out in the sun; put it over your head and stare at the sun. You won’t see any light!
